Fujilfilm has a broad range of plates, with the violet Pro-V appealing to printers looking for low running costs, high quality and chemistry free production.

The choice of plates available to printers has never been greater, with a huge range of options now available, and Fujifilm blazing a trail in many areas. One of its stand out plates is the new Brillia Pro V, which promises high quality, robust image and environmental benefits.

With a 1-99 per cent resolution at 200lpi the Pro-V is up there with the best of them, in fact those figures are virtually unbeatable.

The Pro V is a violet plate, which means a lower energy consumption, and while it is not process free it does have a minimised processing path, with the plate just passing through one short bath of detergent and gum. Fujifilm rates the plate as low-chemistry.

The company does have the process free plate Pro-T, which is in one sense a misnomer as while there is no processing in a unit after exposure in the CTP it effectively washes in the fountain solution of the press. However some printers prefer their plate to be ready before it goes on the press, hence the Pro V.

The Pro V plate has also been designed with an eye on the broader violet CTP market, and can be used on most models now in the field.

Fujifilm is targetting printers currently running silver plates and running conventional violet plates as ripe for a switch to the Brillia Pro-V.

Fujifilm believes the figures for running Pro-V stack up well for most printers, certainly violet has cheaper costs than thermal in just about every area, hardware, plates, and wash solutions.

There is no need to replenish the processor with any wash or solvent, printers can keep the bath level stable with just pure water, and there is no need to control the pH or conductivity.

The only waste generated during the plate processing is the used fluid in the finishing unit which equates to 2,000sqm, an 80 per cent reduction in our chemical waste.

As there is no water involved, there is a significant additional saving each year in water charges.
