KODAK says it is building on its participation in the OpenUSB project by introducing ScanTWAIN, ‘a robust, open source and production-quality scanning application for use on the LINUX Operating System’.
Kodak says ScanTWAIN functionality will support duplex scanning at rated speed on automatic document feeder (ADF) based scanners.
The ScanTWAIN scanning application is available via the SourceForge website and is issued under GPL, Gnu Public License, version 2.
Kodak says it is pleased to offer new image scanning capabilities and solutions via ScanTWAIN and its TWAIN 2.0 data source, or driver, for LINUX Operating Systems.
Kodak’s TWAIN 2.0 data source user interface is fully internationalized, with support for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Czech, Turkish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
According to Kodak, TWAIN 2.0 supports programmatic control of the scanner without a GUI, enabling users to create custom imaging solutions that separate scanning application components over the network.
