Winning gold in the Annual Reports category of the NSW Print Excellence Awards is of particular significance to digital print provider, Docmaster.

Not only was the report printed digitally — a category previously dominated by traditional print — but, it was printed on a Fuji Xerox DocuColor 5000, a digital solution launched to the Australian market three years ago.

“We are honoured and delighted that this digitally printed application has received top billing in the Annual Report category,” says Gordon Lang, managing director of Docmaster, a digital print and mailing provider based in the Sydney Northern Beaches suburb of Brookvale.

“We were confident that the quality of the report was top class, but with tough competition from traditional print providers, we were caught off guard for the accolades that followed.”

According to Gordon, they first entered the application in one of the digital print categories, but it was moved to the Annual Report category prior to judging.

“The win took us completely by surprise and is testament to the advances in digital print technology. There is no doubt that the quality of digital print is on par with offset — there should be no more arguments to the contrary.”

Docmaster printed 200 copies of the report for Surf Lifesaving Sydney Northern Beaches and believe they were selected to deliver this project as they were able to meet the tight turnaround time and could provide a cost-effective short run solution.

The report featured a total of 84 pages — 26 of these in monochrome — with the cover printed on 150gsm gloss media and celloglazed with the rest of the report printed on 120gsm Fuji Xerox Colotech paper stock.

“We were able to run both the colour as well as the black & white pages on the Fuji Xerox solution and with our performance expectations met throughout the print run, we know that we made the right decision to work with Fuji Xerox Australia as a preferred supplier.”

Gordon says that prior to investing in Fuji Xerox technology, the company undertook an extensive analysis of the market to identify a vendor that would be able to meet their demands for high caliber hardware solutions and around the clock service capabilities.

“Our decision to invest in Fuji Xerox technology has been the right one,” says Gordon. “We have found the equipment to be reliable, robust and the quality outstanding. We are also very happy with the service and support we have received to date.”

Docmaster wins Bronze for Self Promotion Docmaster also won a Bronze award in the Self Promotion category for a direct mail marketing campaign to promote their services. The campaign featured text and image personalisation to demonstrate their level of expertise in direct marketing.

“We used this campaign as a customer acquisition program with the view to raise our own profile and promote our services to existing and prospective customers,” explains Gordon.

Docmaster established their business nearly ten years ago to provide print and mailing services to businesses on the Northern Beaches. Today their capabilities include design, digital print, mail and fulfillment services to companies throughout Sydney.

They specialise in variable data printing and produce speciality products such as high quality, durable retail swing tickets and self published family books to name a few.

Gordon believes that their commitment to quality, their depth of services and their guarantee to exceed customer expectations is what makes Docmaster a preferred provider of digital printing and mailing.

“Winning a gold and a bronze medal in the NSW Print Excellence Award has given our business a great boost of confidence,” says Gordon, “and we will be back next year to defend our crown.”
