DATA released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) indicates economic growth in the printing industry was flat during the September 2009 quarter.
According to the ABS, on annual basis the printing industry suffered a 15.2% decline. However, on a trends basis it expanded by 0.1% during the September quarter, reversing the five consecutive quarters of decline.
In comparison to previous years, the ABS report shows the fall was a modest one and it represents a 25.3% improvement on the outcome a year earlier.
Printing Industries national manager for policy and government affairs, Hagop Tchamkertenian expressed disappointment in the small growth.
"While it was pleasing to see once again that the Australian economy continued to expand the fact is that the rate of growth is very modest," he says.
